Summer & Grass Burrs in Texas: A Last Word

 - - - or a few thousand words..... a picture being worth so many....
<>
The drought goes on. And on.
To the point we let the grass go, even around the house.
Our prayer is that we can save some of our old trees around the house.

In the back yard, Cocoa & Ava innocently search for gopher holes

Unaware the still green "sticker patch" lurks under their noses

While just one step over is a brittle, brown, dagger just brown and ripe enough to strike.

BUT !!! Ah-ha !! The just-four-months-in-the-ground Sage blooms away !

So. When Summer gives dry, parched days with unbearable temperatures and
 GRASS BURRS . . .
. . . I just go inside, bake Apple-WholeWheat-Honey Muffins
...and continue praying for rain.

Living Well in God’s Mercy
Liz

P.S. Thank you, Sally, for your awesome proofing. Guess what.... Encarta Dictionary really guesses about those stickers we lovingly refer to as burrs. :-)

  2. Texas grass burrs – you learn something new every day – at least I do – now that I'm blogging – and reading really good people. And isn't it funny how green those weeds can stay – it says something for deep roots. And why can't I read a blog of somebody who has a cat – everybody has dogs. Dogs are just fine creatures – but poor Laska the love Kitty is feeling a little outnumbered! I'm just trying to speak up for the cat doesn't spell very good. And I wish you guys would just get some rain down there – some nice – slow – deep rain. I have prayed – it's God's will not ours. God bless your Liz – I hope things are okay.

  3. Dear Liz,

And today we have flood warnings from the Hurricane that came up from Louisiana. People in our flood plain have been warned to evacuate. I am high and dry, but some of my co-workers aren't. As Ann Voskamp tells us to do, I will praise Him if he holds the rain back. I will praise Him if He brings it to pour. He is worthy of my praise no matter what the storm does.

    Coveting the living water,
Dawn (just another woman at the well)
